How do you find narrative superlatives for a trip where everything was simply perfect. Riding a two wheeler the local style with the wind in your face, savoring the local food, this is a story of a trip that the Foodie Nomads are going to remember for a very long time. Nearly everything turned out to be much better than what we envisaged it to  be.

The trip has everything thrown in starting with

The moody Volcano Mt. Raung erupting which threatened to blow the trip away

The big bad waves in the Lombok Strait which shortened our Gilis sojourn

Picture perfect landscapes – The Sunrises and the Sunsets over the mountains and the ocean just took the breath away. The lush green sights everywhere soothe the senses like nothing else.

Rich Cultural Diversity – The centuries old temples, the various dance forms and mesmerizing ballets, the walking museum that the city of Ubud is, the multitude of Balinese ceremonies. Above all the harmony and open mindedness with which various communities live together is exemplary.

Amazing food – Indonesian, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Mexican mouthwatering dishes available in abundance. However the king undisputedly was the absolutely brilliant Nasi Campur at the Warungs. One is never disappointed.

Friendly locals and yes an odd accident thrown in with a Bintang addict that led to a chance encounter with the mystical traditional Balinese Healer ‘The Balian’

One sight of Tegallalang Rice Terraces, Candi Prambanan, Candi Borobudur is enough to convince one of their illustrious World Heritage Status.

Thrill of driving in Islands without understanding the language and without a navigational aid relying totally on sign language.

Add to the mix a sunrise trek to a volcano, the exotic waterfalls with the rainbows at their bases, the vibrancy of the Gilis and it should come across as no wonder that we are so enamored by our sojourn.

Further include the private villas with swimming pools which ooze luxury at every drop. All that at prices that does not lead to too huge a hole in the pocket.

And last but not the last, Bintang the amazing local brew tops off the heady mixture of fun, luxury, heritage and adventure.

Welcome to Indonesia. Terima Kasih for having us in your land. Have fun and enjoy a Bintang. The adventure begins.
